How we shipAntirrhinum hispanicum Pink Perennial Snapdragon Drawing by Noreen Braithwaite 1999
Over the years we have discovered that the U.S. Postal Service has proved to be the most consistent carrier for our plants. So we use Priority Mail to send your plants. If you wish to make other arrangements please call the nursery.

When ordering please consider what will happen to the plants after they are left by the mail carrier The plants must not be left in the sun or in a hot box for any length of time at all.

To destinations east of the Rockies, Priority Mail is usually fine. Our plants can stand 3 days of confinement without a problem. Premium delivery services are available. Email us for special shipping arrangements and cost estimates.

Shipping charges are calculated by weight.

What we ship:
We typically ship a deep perennial pot measuring 3 ½ by 3 ½ inches by 4 inches deep and is generally referred to as a '4-inch pot'. It holds nearly 3 times the soil volume of the rosepot. Some plants just grow too fast to be kept in a rosepot for long, and some plants do not overwinter well in them, therefore, we grow them in the 4 inch size.

Some plants may be shipped bare root or semi bare root. Which is without a pot and just a small amount of soil?

The plants may have been cut back to promote branching, and may have been trimmed a little to be packed for shipment without damage. They are watered well before shipping, but may be somewhat dry when you receive them. Water them thoroughly soon after unpacking. The little B-B's in the pots are time-release fertilizer. Be sure to put them in the soil when you transplant your plants.

Each pot is wrapped in a small plastic bag. The plants are held securely by crumpled newspaper within the shipping box. The plants we ship are always ones we would be happy to receive if we were the purchasers. If a plant is not ready, we won't ship it, and we won't offer it as available (one major advantage of the on-line catalog!). If you receive a plant which is not in good condition, tell us immediately and we will replace it or refund the purchase price.
