Camassia leichtlinii Camas lily | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
The Camas lily has grasslike leaves sending up slender purple, star shaped flower spikes in spring. Good for moist, meadowlike areas. Will naturalize. Plant over with other later blooming wildflowers as foliage dies back in early summer.
The bulbs were collected for food by Native Americans hence the name 'camas' - native for bulb. Best placed in areas where they can naturalize and won't be disturbed. They take well to summer dryness as they go dormant by early summer. |
Available in 4" containers or sold as bulbs. Z-1.
